Window Film bubbles

Film Curing Process

Allowing time for your film to adhere to the surface is important. It is normal for a small amount of installation fluid to remain after a proper installation. This trapped liquid can cause a cloudy or hazy appearance and/or even small water pockets or "bubbles". These pockets of water and the cloudy appearance will disappear over time and is part of the

 normal drying out process.

But when? The thinnest of films in the best of weather will be cured as quickly as a week after installation, while thicker films such as CoolVu, in combination of cold and cloudy weather may lengthen the curing time by as much as 30 to 60 days. Once cured, films will get to optimum clarity Guaranteed!  Please do not attempt to remove these water pockets, as you may smear the curing adhesive and will not be covered by the film warranty.

Film Cleaning & Care

Just like any non-filmed window, you will need to clean tinted windows from time to time. Caring for your windows is not an overly complicated procedure but is one that should be done correctly to ensure the longevity and performance of your window film.

  • Window film must dry before you can clean it. Wait at least 30 days before cleaning your window film to ensure the adhesive will not be affected.
  • Ammonia is harsh on films.  Never use ammonia based products when cleaning films.
  • Use a clean, soft microfiber towel to clean the film to prevent scratching (All films have a scratch resistant hard coat but it is NOT scratch-proof.)
  • If you use a professional window cleaning service, we recommend mentioning to them that there has been film applied to your windows as they may have a different cleaning technique on filmed windows.

Maximize The Life Of Your Window Film

Since you want to protect your investment, be sure to clean tinted windows and vinyls with gentle cleansers and soft cloths. The right products and techniques won’t harm tint or vinyl and will ensure that the view remains bright and blemish free.

  • Always use clean, soft materials to wash and dry your window film surfaces.
  • Most glass cleaners and car wash soaps will work well, although a good cleaning solution for window film is 1/2 ounce of liquid dish soap added to 1 quart of distilled water. It is important to ensure that your cleaner is ammonia-free.
  • A soft cloth or a clean synthetic sponge is recommended for washing the window film, followed by another clean soft cloth or soft rubber squeegee for drying.
  • To avoid scratching the film, do not use bristle brushes, abrasive scrubbing sponges, or any cleaning materials that may have been contaminated with dirt particles. Avoid washing interior and exterior windows with the same cleaning materials.
